Warning: This is a bottle of wine typing.

I'm not sure if it's the vino, the handful of "Are we really going home?" phone calls that have been placed and received today, watching Texa's husbands win on the Liveticker tonight (yes, I was creeping you Linds - wooohooo!), or the fact that 85% of our apartment is empty....but tonight I'm sad.

I'd be lying if I said I haven't been doing little leprechaun bell kicks for the past couple of days, but I'm honestly not ready for the season to be over yet and I don't want to part ways with great friends. I guess we were blessed this year and maybe I took it all for granted - TJ has three college roommates and one teammate from last year playing here, and I've developed beautiful friendships with a couple of the girls - I feel like I've known them for 17 years rather than 7 months. When you're 5,000 miles from home these people become your family and it's going to be very difficult for me to say goodbye to them. All of our contracts and futures are up in the air right now, so I'm not sure if there will be a "see you later"....such is (hockey) life, I guess.

I found this video on a fans Facebook page today. There are quite a few shots of TJ [he's #84, the Fox =) ]. I'm glad I found this to wrap up the season - it's a nice keepsake of TJ and our friends, and hopefully it'll give you a little glimpse of what European hockey games are like.

  2. at least you've got e-mail, FB, Twitter, Skype, etc., to help you keep in contact with them. I know it's not the same, but it's better than "the old days." (Golly, now I feel old! Got any of that wine left?)

I do my best to never say "good bye" or even "see you later" - I stick with the Tigger classic "TTFN - Ta Ta For Now!" 'Cause you never know what tomorrow might bring, and it's better to leave 'em with a smile - takes some of the sting out of leaving.

  3. Awww, I felt the same way when we left Italy. It's bittersweet. But it's an experience you'll never forget, that's for sure. And hey, had it not been for everything that happened to both of us this season, we wouldn't be the friends we are today. I am so thankful for your friendship, Kym. You've held my hand through a lot this year. Lindsey too. We are three very blessed, very lucky girls.

  4. Wooo for coming home but I know how it is to grow attached to people and then have to depart! But that's why you have the great world of social networking! You can never lose touch with those who are really near & dear to your heart!

  5. Oh, I can imagine how you're feeling! We might be going back to Germany by the end of the summer (haven't decided yet) and it will be so hard to say good-bye to all our friends here!

  6. awww KY! {hugs} that was an awesome video - thanks for sharing. I love the interaction between the players and the fans - I wish they'd do that here! Perhaps the Coyotes should start a tradition... :) This makes me want to go to one of TJ's games even more now! Looks so fun!

  7. Awww Kim, I know exactly how you feel, it is so bitter sweet returning home after being abroad for an extended period :/

But I'm sure you will cross paths with your friends in the future - and when you do it will be like not a single has passed since you last saw eachother :)

    Hang in there!

  8. Awwww, you can creep me out any day. You are so sweet, the friends there were really lucky to have you this year. I am going to miss you too, and we live 7 hours apart! :) I am glad you enjoyed the packing last night with a bottle of wine. And glad that your reflections on this year are on the up!! A few more days, and you'll be stateside. Enjoy these last few days in Germany. I know ya'll will :)

I really wish I could see you do leprechaun kicks, btw.
